Former Maldives State Shipping (MSS) Managing Director Abdulla Saeed has been appointed as the Managing Director of State Trading Organisation (STO).

Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) President Asim Mohamed presented Saeed with the credentials during a ceremony held at the Finance Ministry today.

Saeed had previously filled in as the cabinet secretary as well. The decision comes after former MD Hussain Amr was sacked from the position this week.

Saeed was the cabinet secretary during the tenure of former President Mohamed Nasheed. He was tasked with the Maldives National Shipping Limited (MNSL) based in Singapore. Saeed remained as the director of the company till it was shut down. He had also served as the chairman of Maldives National Oil Company (MNOC) in Singapore.
