Provisional data from the Census 2022 has revealed that the number of foreigners living in the Maldives is over 100,000.

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) conducted a nationwide census last year. The bureau published provisional data from the census today.

According to the publication, a total of 132,371 foreigners live in the country. This includes 51,030 foreigners living in the capital, 32,470 in admin islands excluding Malé, 36,707 in resorts and 12,164 in industrial zones and other islands.

Approximately 26% of the population are foreigners. For every 3 Maldivian, there is one Foreigner living in the Maldives.
