Former President Mohamed Nasheed has said that opposition candidates for Parliamentary election are seeking approval and popularity of voters by pretending to be members of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
President Nasheed said this while speaking at an MDP campaign event at Gaaf Alif Dhaandhoo today. He added that several candidates are seeking approval of voters by claiming to be close friends with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih or President Nasheed himself.
He said that these candidates heavily claim that they are in fact MDP endorsed candidates who are close to both Presidents in an effort to seek votes.
President Nasheed reiterated that these efforts are an indication of the people’s need for an MDP governance in Maldives. He also added that these efforts are a matter of pride for MDP.
