The government has instructed Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) to appoint Maldives State Shipping (MSS) Managing Director Abdulla Saeed to State Trading Organisation (STO).
The government has confirmed that they had sent Saeed's name to the board. Saeed had previously filled in as the cabinet secretary as well. The decision comes after former MD Hussain Amr was sacked from the position this week.
Saeed was the cabinet secretary during the tenure of former President Mohamed Nasheed. He was tasked with the Maldives National Shipping Limited (MNSL) based in Singapore. Saeed remained as the director of the company till it was shut down. He had also served as the chairman of Maldives National Oil Company (MNOC) in Singapore.
