JP to begin campaign for presidential elections

Jumhooree Party (JP) leader leader Qasim Ibrahim is set to begin campaign for presidential elections 2023.

In a message to a JP council group, Qasim Ibrahim said JP's deputy leader Ameen Ibrahim will lead the election campaign works and asked the council to support Ameen in his tasks.

Qasim added that JP secretariat has an important role to play in the elections.

JP is still party of the coalition government with VP Faisal Naseem, Transport Minister Aishath Nahula and Tourism Minister Abdulla Mausoom and MWSC's Managing Director Ali Shah hailing from JP.

Following JP's decision to run for presidency, President Solih has said that the administration cannot work with people of different opinions, and it would be best to end the coalition.
