Islamic Ministry begins Zakat payment collection

Islamic Ministry has begun collecting Zakat-Al-Fitr.

The Ministry said Zakat payments can be made until 29th of Ramadan in person and via online platforms as well. As such, Islamic Ministry said Zakat payments will be accepted between 1030-1300hrs on working days.

Island councils have arranged for Zakat payment collections in the islands.

The minimum amount due for Zakat is the equivalent of 2.4kg of wheat flour, rice, or other staple food, for every member of the household.
