Maldives Police Service (MPS) has revealed that four have been arrested for blocking the Presidential motorcade last night.

The motorcade carrying President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih was going through Boduthakurufaanu Magu near PPM office last night before it was blocked by protestors from PPM and PNC. The President was returning Malé after having participated in an event to commemorate International Women's Day at the Umar Zahir Office Complex in Hulhumalé.

Police Media confirmed to One Online that four were arrested during the incident and that they are still under police custody.

PPM and PNC stage nightly demonstrations near the PPM office on Boduthakurufaanu Magu, calling for the release of their leader, former President Abdulla Yameen.

After the route was blocked by the protestors, the motorcade had taken a U-Turn and gone another way. However, protestors had tried to reach the President's car.
