President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is set to meet with former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom, founder of Maldives Reform Movement (MRM) regarding his invitation to sustain the existing ruling coalition.
The spokesperson at the President's Office, Miuvan Mohamed confirmed to One Online that the President is set to meet with the founder of MRM sometime today.
The meeting is expected to take place at the President's Office.
Speaking to One Online, Spokesperson of MRM, Ismail Naail noted that the meeting will see discussions regarding the existing coalition, and will not be about forming a new coalition.
President Solih had extended an invitation to all of his coalition leaders to sustain the current coalition, however, only Adhaalath Party has accepted the invitation so far. MDA, which is not included in the existing coalition, has however decided to support the president in the upcoming election.
Jumhooree Party, which is part of the existing coalition has decided to run for the election and produce their own candidate.
