BML staff clean up 12 areas in Male' City

Bank of Maldives (BML) staff have cleaned up 12 areas in Male' City.

The clean-up event, organized by Male' City Council and Dive Desk, was held from 0630-0900hrs around artificial beach, carnival, industrial zone, Rasfannu, and local market area and the lagoon area.

About 200 staff from BML participated in the event that was held to mark International Day of Happiness on 20 March.

BML's PR Manager Mohamed Saeed stated that the event garnered great support from the staff. He thanked the staff and City Council for the efforts.

"There were a lot of plastic bags and bottles in the areas. We were able to remove a lot of plastic waste from the lagoon near the fish market," Saeed said.

BML said a total 8 tons of waste was collected during the event along with 6 jumbo Parley bags of plastic to be recycled.
