Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has revealed that the development of Thilafushi Phase II as the 'industrial hub of tomorrow' is currently underway, with dredging and reclamation works in progress.
The corporation noted that the aim is to create a sustainable and adaptable hub and to streamline all industrial activities in the Greater Malé region to Thilafushi.
"This is essential for the country's industrial growth and will also have the added benefit of reducing negative socio-economic and environmental impacts on the city", they revealed.
Under the project, 20 hectares of land will be reclaimed. Work on the project began on February 22nd.
While the reclamation works are now ongoing, HDC has announced for the sale of land plots from the area. As such, they have announced for the sale of 50 plots of sizes 35,000 sqft and 25,000 sqft.
HDC noted that that the plots can be bought by individuals and companies alike, and that if a foreign company is interested they will be put on a lease for 99 years.
Those who wish to buy the land must submit a bid, and must be above 18 years old to do so.
