President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that Islands MV Portal with information on local islands will lead to increase in wealth. He added that the portal will also open doors to provide ease for those that want to travel from one island to the other.

The President said this whole speaking at the inauguration of Islands MV at Hulhumale’ Schwack Cinema last night. He said that information on the island will be available on the website. As such, President Solih said that the information on historic facts, local tourism as well as travel routes regarding local islands will be available.

He further said in his speech that the authority on promoting local tourism will lie completely with local councils. He noted that the website will allow information on all the local islands to be accessible to all across Maldives and the rest of the world as well.

The President reiterated that the information will not only be the information required by tourists visiting Maldives. As such, he said that the website will include significant information that would assist those seeking to travel in between islands as well as those that live on the islands itself.

Launching of the Islands MV portal that connects local islands in Maldives was one of President Solih’s 100 day campaign pledges.
