A technical fault in a Maldivian flight has caused it to make an emergency landing at Velana International Airport.

Media Officer of Maldivian, Mush'il Sobah stated that the pilot had noticed a technical fault moments after take off. The flight was heading to Laamu Kahdhoo from Malé.

He further added that no injuries were reported during the incident and that their engineers are now working on fixing the issue.

Mush'il noted that while they can't reveal the exact issue, the flight will depart as soon as the engineers give the green light - which is expected to be around 1:00pm today.

He also highlighted that it is only a minor issue, hence there are no plans to change the passengers to a different flight as of yet.
