Waste management fees will be included in electricity bills starting next month.

In a statement released on Thursday, Environment Ministry stated that one of the biggest challenges faced by Waste Management Corporation Ltd (WAMCO) is the overdue fees.

The Ministry stated that WAMCO needs clearance of the overdue fees for the upkeep of their vehicles and equipment.

"As such, the waste management fees will be included in the electricity bills starting 1 April 2023," Environment Ministry said.

The Ministry also stated that while WAMCO collects waste from over 53,000 residences in Male', only 20,000 residences pay the fees regularly.
