Male' City Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muiz has said the City Council is set to commence the buggy service in Vilimale' on the 16th of March.

Dr. Muiz Tweeted on Tuesday that the buggies will be transported to Vilimale' next Thursday and the services will commence the following week.

Mayor Dr. Muiz also stated that the buggy service will be free until after Fitr Eid.

He further added that although buggy service will be free during Ramadan, private hires will be chargeable.

Private hire charges for buggies will be:

  • 4-seat buggy - MVR 6
  • 6-seat buggy - MVR 10
  • 12-seat buggy - MVR 12

City Council also announced buggy fares will be MVR 2 per ride. Children under the age of 6, students in school uniforms, and elderly above the age 65 will travel for free on the buggies, City Council said.
