Bank of Maldives (BML) has enabled One Time Passwords (OTPs) for all QR payments to further enhance security for payments.

BML said the BML Mobile Banking app will allow customers to make Scan to Pay transactions using an OTP generated through Authenticator, SMS, or email once customers update their app.

BML further said the Bank will continue their efforts to protect their customers. As such, BML will be announcing further enhancements to their security features at the end of March, BML said.

Additionally, BML said the Bank will never send SMS with website links and advised caution regarding scam messages. BML advised customers not to open suspicious texts or click on links in SMS or emails. Customers are advised to change passwords frequently and not to save passwords on browsers.
