The Elections Commission of the Maldives (EC) has decided to hold the by-election for the vacant seat of Guraidhoo constituency on April 15.

The seat was left vacant after MP Ibrahim Riza passed away last Thursday amid treatments for cancer.

Vice President of the Commission, Ismail Habeeb revealed to One Online today that they will open applications for the seat tomorrow. A total of two weeks will be given to filing applications.

Habeeb further noted that the by-election for the Women's Development Committee (WDC) for Vaavu Rakeedhoo and Vaavu Thinadhoo will also be held on the same day.
