Maamigilli Member of Parliament (MP) Qasim Ibrahim, who has been elected as Leader of the Jumhooree Party (JP) by default has expressed his disappointment over the lack of any other contenders for the role.
As per the basic regulations of the party, Qasim was elected as the Leader of JP today. He was elected by default after being the sole contender for the role.
Speaking to the members of the party after being elected for another term as Leader, Qasim expressed his disappointment after being elected by default without a vote. However, he added that the decision is well received.
Qasim highlighted that certain things need to be done in order to make sure the party stands the test of time.
He stated that he would not remain in the role forever, and stated that honest and loyal members must take the responsibility soon enough.
