Male' City Council has decided to open a temporary market in Hulhumale' Phase II for Ramadan.
Speaking at the 90th General Meeting of the Council, Mayor Dr. Muiz stated that Hulhumale' is part of Male' City.
"Even if the Council doesn't run Hulhumale', the latter falls under City Council's jurisdiction," Mayor Muiz said.
Mayor Dr. Muiz added that there are families with special needs residing in Hulhumale' Phase II that would find it difficult to have to go to a long distance to markets. As such, City Council will be operating the temporary market to provide ease of access to fresh produce for the residents and generate a revenue for the Council in the process.
Hulhumale constituency MP Ibrahim Shujau stated that the residents of Phase II should have easy access to produce and that HDC and other relevant authorities will be supportive in this initiative as well.
