An inmate has been caught trying to smuggle drugs into Maafushi prison.

Commissioner of Prison Ahmed Mohamedfulhu Tweeted on Thursday that an inmate brought to Maafushi prison was searched after intelligence reports that he was trying to smuggle drugs into the prison. An X-Ray done on the inmate showed drugs in his rectum.

The drugs have since been confiscated with the aid of Police.
