Guraidhoo constituency Member of Parliament, Ibrahim Riza has passed away.

Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Spokesperson, Heena Waleed had confirmed the news of his death to One Online last night.

One Online has learned that Riza passed away in a hospital in Malaysia while seeking treatment for cancer. He traveled to Malaysia two months ago, where he has been seeking treatment for cancer for a long period of time.

Riza is a member of the main opposition PPM, and was first elected to the Parliament in 2014. He worked as a lawyer before becoming a parliamentarian and had worked for PPM as a lawyer on many occasions. He was also the member who had submitted a case to the Supreme Court seeking to nullify the Presidential Election in 2013, a case that he also fought in the court.

The lawmaker was also a member of the Judicial Services Commission (JSC).
