Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) is set to hold its National Congress today, where members are expected to make decisions regarding the upcoming 2023 Presidential Election.

One Online has learned that the National Congress is set to take place this evening.

Speaking to One Online via phone, MDA President Ahmed Shiyam revealed that the National Congress will stage discussions on two very important topics. He noted that the topics in question were whether the party will produce a Presidential Candidate or join a coalition with other parties.

Siyam stressed that a decision will be made after extensive discussions during the congress, where several things will be considered before making a final decision. He stated that the decisions will be based on what the most beneficial outcomes would be for the residents, which remains a top priority of the party.

While MDA is holding its congress today, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih recently met with Siyam where the President extended him an invitation to form a coalition with MDP. However neither MDP nor MDA had released an official statement regarding the meeting.
