Maldives Police Service (MPS) has revealed that Mohamed Asir Ismail, 31, was found inside the Velana International Airport (VIA) terminal 12 days after his disappearance.

Asir's family reported him missing on February 5th at 4:30pm, after having last seen him at 7:30pm the previous night. As per the Police, he was last spotted entering the airport terminal on February 4th. Police were able to locate him sometime last Thursday night.

Police revealed to the media on Sunday that Asir was found inside the airport terminal, though they did not disclose any further details. They further added that an investigation into the disappearance is still ongoing.

Home Minister Imran Abdulla was the first one to break the news of having found him. Home Minister Imran Abdulla Tweeted on Thursday night that Asir had been found sometime on Thursday night. However, Minister Imran did not specify where Asir was found.

Police informed the media later on Thursday night that Asir was safe and in good health although they did not provide any further details.
