Abbas Adil Riza has been charged over calls to incite an arson attack on the High Commission of India in the Maldives as well as various areas of the city.

Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) revealed to the media on Sunday that Abbas Adil Riza has been charged with threat to destruction as per the Penal Code.

Abbas was charged after he had openly called for violence on Clubhouse on December 22nd, where he expressed his distaste over the money laundering case on former President Abdulla Yameen. As such he has called to destroy several public areas of Male' City with bricks and fire. After this, on December 23 a Twitter account belonging to him had called to incite an arson attack on the High Commission of India in the Maldives.

Abbas faces a 1 year 7 months and six day jail term if found guilty.
