Maamigilli Member of Parliament Qasim Ibrahim is running for the Leader of Jumhooree Party (JP) at the election scheduled for the 4th National Congress of the party.

Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Aishath Nahul will be running for the Deputy Leader of the party at the election.

Qasim has remained the leader of the party since its inception.

JP Media Official Ali Solih revealed to One Online that five members will be elected for the role of the deputy leader during the party's 4th national congress. Solih noted that many had competed for the role other than Nahula.

Those who are competing for deputy leader are: Transport Minister Aishath Nahula, State Minister Hassan Mughnee, Qasim’s Executive Secretary Iqbal Adam, Incumbent deputy leader Ahmed Saud, Immigration Controller Mohamed Ahmed Hussain (Hanafy), Former South Thinadhoo MP Abdulla Ahmed, Former Transport Minister Ameen Ibrahim.

The party is gearing up to hold its National Congress on February 24th, where the party will elect a council that will make all decisions of the party related to the Presidential Election. Leadership of the party will participate in the congress along with Ministers currently serving under a JP slot, council members, and regional presidents.
