Criminal Court Judge Hassan Saeed has been suspended for 14 days over something he had done during his tenure as the Chief Judge of the Family Court.

The Judicial Services Commission (JSC) stated that it was evident that a marriage had been conducted in violation of the rules and regulations after Judge Saeed in his capacity as the Chief Judge of the Family Court had advised the marriage registrar to arrange and conduct marriages outside of the court as per the regulations regarding it. They also noted that the marriage registrar reserves the legal right to make decisions about the marriages that go through the court.

During the 13th meeting of the commission yesterday, it was decided to suspend the judge for 14 days in line with the JSC regulations as Judge Saeed was found in violation of the Judges Disciplinary Standards and the Maldives Judges Act.
