Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed that the agency is ready to begin administering the Pfizer vaccine against Covid-19 for children aged five to 11 years.

An announcement by the agency on Tuesday noted that they have now received Pfizer vaccine doses for children between the ages of five and 11 years. It added that the Maldives Technical Advisory Group on Immunization had advised beginning administering the vaccine to children.

HPA revealed that the vaccine will be available from the centers in Male', as well as hospitals and health centers in the Atolls starting today.

They also noted that the vaccine is available for children above 12 years of age as well, and had requested everyone to get their vaccine and booster shots completed at the soonest.

IGMH, Hulhumale' Hospital, and Dhamanaveshi will administer the vaccines in Male' area. As such, vaccinations at IGMH are available from 9:00am through 12:00pm every Sunday, while vaccinations and Hulhumale' Hospital are available every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 1:00pm through 02:00pm. Dhamanaveshi administers the vaccine on all working days from 1:30pm till 3:00pm.

So far, 399,178 people have completed the first dose of the vaccine in the Maldives. From this, 385,099 completed the second dose of the vaccination.
