Secretary General of the National Pay Commission, Dr Faizal Mohamed has revealed that the salaries for health sector has been finalized and that a positive change will be seen in the salaries.

Speaking before the Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions, Dr. Faizal noted that they have finished finalising the salaries for health sector workers, which will benefit all levels of workers.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had decided to raise the pay for health sector workers starting this coming May.

Dr. Faizal further revealed that while there are 55 different professions in the sector, they have decided to bring positive changes to all the professions despite the lack of Maldivians in some of these.

He noted that the changes may drive more Maldivians to work in these professions and pique their interest to work in even more professions in the sector.

This year's budget has a total MVR 5 billion dedicated to the sector, with MVR 2.4 billion being projected for salaries. MVR 500 has also been alotted just to bring a positive change to the salaries.
