Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM)'s Hulhumale' constituency president Abdul Samad has been deported from India.

PPM's Spokesperson Heena Waleed confirmed Samad's deportation from India to 'One' on Saturday.

"He was deported from India sometime today. We don't know where he is at the moment. We will be releasing a statement regarding this soon," Heena said.

Heena said that PPM is working closely with Foreign Ministry to confirm Samad's whereabouts and that they have not been able to contact Samad at all.

Foreign Ministry's Communication Strategist Safaath Ahmed Zahir told the media on Saturday that a Maldivian in India had been taken into Immigration's custody. She stated that Foreign Ministry is closely monitoring the situation.

Samad has been very vocal in the 'India Out' campaign by PPM/PNC coalition. He was traveling to India for medicals and was taken into custody while at Bangalore's Manipal Hospital.
