The body discovered floating in Vaavu Atoll during the month of January has been buried, after DNA samples were collected by Maldives Police Service.

The body floating near Vemparu Lagoon in Vaavu Atoll was discovered on January 2nd, and was decomposed beyond identification. Police had then stated that a DNA analysis would be conducted to identify the body.

Police revealed on Sunday that the body has been buried, after collecting all the samples required for their investigation.

Upon being questioned for further details, Police did not reveal any details regarding the burial or the identity of the body.

Police is currently investigating the case further.
