A man has been arrested for sexually assaulting two girls.

Police stated on Thursday that they received reports of the incident from an island in the southernmost atoll of Maldives on February 1st.

Following the report, a 27-year-old Maldivian man was arrested under a court order on Monday, and has been remanded until the investigation is over, Police said.

The incident is currently being investigated further by Police.
