President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed that the government will be launching digital ID cards during the month of March.

In his delivery of the Presidential Address during the inaugural sitting of the first term of the Parliament today, the President highlighted that it was a difficult process for the citizens to submit copies of documents and identity cards whenever they needed a service from the government.

He noted that this often causes delays related to missing documents or mix-ups, adding that a digital ID card will be introduced in March in an effort to solve this.

The President further added that queuing and unreliable customer service are also among other challenges faced by the citizens while seeking services. He revealed that the government is set to introduce one-gov as a solution for this.
