Jumhooree Part (JP), which is currently part of the ruling coalition is set to hold its National Congress on February 24th and 25th, where they will elect a council to decide the party's stand at the upcoming 2023 Presidential Election.
The third largest party in the Maldives will elect a council during the congress, who will make all decisions of the party related to the Presidential Election. As per the registry of the Elections Commission of the Maldives, there are over 18,000 registered members of the party.
A council member of the party revealed to One Online on Sunday on the condition of anonymity that the party is gearing up to hold its National Congress on February 24th.
Leadership of the party will participate in the congress along with Ministers currently serving under a JP slot, council members and regional presidents.
JP had previously stated that they will produce a candidate to compete at the Presidential Election.
The party has played an important role in all three elections held in the democratic history of the Maldives. They had also competed in the 2008 and 2013 elections.
