Twitter has suspended the account of Mariyam Shiuna (Nanna), the Spokesperson of Male' City Council after she had called for bloodshed to change the presidency.
The suspension comes after Maldives Police Service (MPS) launched an investigation into the issue. The account (@nannaxeev) with over 10,000 followers was suspended on Saturday night.
In a tweet last Thursday, Shiuna accused President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih of tyranny over Muslims. She had called to oust the President by any means possible, even if bloodshed was the only method to do so.
After the situation got heated, Shiuna deleted the tweet in an attempt to cool things and down and claimed that she deleted the tweet as some people had gotten the wrong meaning out of it. She also apologized for it sounding too extreme, adding that that was not her intention.
Shiuna revealed previously to One Online that the tweet was not directed at any in specific, and was calling for justice for all Muslims.
