Opposition PPM/PNC coalition has kicked off the 'Hope Conference' symposium to kickstart former president Yameen Abdul Gayoom's presidential election campaign.

'Hope Conference' is being held at Dharubaaruge with over 900 members in presence, and will go on for three days.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the conference, PNC president Abdulraheem Abdulla delivered a message from the former president to the attendees, stating that he will remain steadfast in his fight for freedom.

"Some people might be wondering what will happen if president Yameen cannot contest in the elections. We do not want to this of that. We are confident that his name will be on the ballot in this election," Abdulraheem said.

He further stated that Yameen will win the appeal put forward by the coalition to overturn the 11 year jail sentence for Sarah case.

He added that the opposition wants to serve the public and not a specific person, to ensure a peaceful and prosperous future for the future generations.

Former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed, former Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shameem Ali Saeed and former president Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan also delivered speeches at the conference tonight.

The opposition coalition also inaugurated Yameen's campaign song at the conference.

'Hope Conference' session will be held on Friday and Saturday at Dharubaaruge.
