Former Chairperson of MDP, Reeko Moosa Manik has called to oust Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed from the party.

Reeko Moosa was working with the campaign team of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih during the recent MDP Presidential Primary. Throughout the campaign, he had directed strongly worded criticisms at Nasheed.

Even though President Solih had won the Primary, Nasheed had refused to support him in the 2023 Presidential Elections. He has formed a separate movement within MDP under the name 'Fikuregge Dhirun' which was used by his campaign as a slogan.

Nasheed has been met with widespread criticism by members who claim that this is against the party's presidential candidate and that it is against the basic principles of the party.

In a tweet sent out on Thursday, he called on the President to oust Nasheed from the party citing that he is desperately trying to grasp on power on the fear that he may be removed from the position of Speaker of Parliament.
