Will not leave MDP, need 50,000 members for 'Fikuregge Dhirun': Nasheed

Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has stated that he will not be leaving MDP despite his recent loss in the MDP Presidential Primary.

Nasheed further noted that 50,000 members are needed to be recruited to the local branches of 'Fikuregge Dhirun'.

Meeting with campaign teams after the primary, Nasheed acknowledged that local branches of the 'Fikuregge Dhirun' needed to be established. As such, he noted that local branches of the ideology should be opened in every island and have about 50,000 active members in those branches.

He further stated that MDP is the only party he knows that will not lose or be separated, adding that he will never leave the party.

Nasheed also highlighted that the 'Fikuregge Dhirun' ideology will have the space to foster within MDP, reiterating that the party principles allowed it to.

While he has accepted his defeat in the primary, he has stated that he would not be supporting President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for the Presidency. Stressing that it would be easier to endorse a candidate that supports changing the governing system, Nasheed revealed that he will make a decision on endorsing a presidential candidate at a later time.
