President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that he is confident that he can win the upcoming Presidential Election 2023 without ease, after winning the MDP Presidential Primary.

As per the interim results of the election, President Solih had received 24,566 votes had won the primary with a landslide victory over opponet Mohamed Nasheed, who received only 15,641 votes.

Speaking during a celebration about the victory, the President stated that all his supporters wished to go forward with MDP. He highlighted that MDP was the party who had introduced competitive elections in the Maldives, adding that their internal elections are just as competitive and that the results should be accepted by all to move forward.

He further stated that the party has always had the same objective and ideologies, adding that even though he was opposite someone else in the election they both had the same objective. This has always been brining stability and development to the Maldives and securing the right to freedom of expression.

He also noted that while some disappointing things might have occurred in such a competitive election, he has not taken anything to heart. He expressed his only wish being that everyone work together to make MDP the winner of the upcoming Presidential Election.
