President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih won the MDP Presidential Primary with a total of 24,566 votes.
As per the interim results of the election, President Solih had won the primary with a landslide victory over opponet Mohamed Nasheed, who received only 15,641 votes.
While all the ballot boxes have now announced their results, it is highly unlikely that a major difference in vote numbers would be seen while announcing the permanent results. President Solih had secured 61 percent while Nasheed was able to secure 39 percent.
There were 57,225 eligible voters in the election, though only 40,887 people had voted. This was a voter turnout of 71.41 percent.
President Solih had secured three major cities in the election with 2,199 votes from Male' City, 2,757 votes from Addu City and 773 from Fuvahmulah City. Nasheed trailed closely behind with 2,115 votes from Male' City, 2,536 from Addu City and 699 from Fuvahmulah.
In Kulhuduffushi, Nasheed gained an edge over President Solih with 245 votes while the President received 219.
