President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has secured the MDP ticket for Presidential Elections 2023.

President Solih contested against Speaker Mohamed Nasheed. The Primary voting commenced at 0900hrs on Saturday morning and a majority of ballot boxes have been counted.

As per the current ballot count, President Solih has secured 21,000 votes against Nasheed, who has secured 13,600 votes.

Although a few ballot boxes remain yet to be counted, the election results are not expected to change drastically.

President Solih’s cabinet, parliament members, and his supporters have congratulated him on the win.

Earlier today, Nasheed called out voter fraud attempts following disruptions at various voting centres.
