A large number of DhiraaguTV customers have opted to switch to Sun Siyam Network (SSNET), within the first nine hours of registrations.
Dhiraagu opened registrations for customers that wish to switch to SSNET on Saturday morning around 12:00pm. As per SSNET, by 9:00pm they had received overwhelming support from customers from 90 islands who were seeking to switch to them.
Chief Operating Officer (COO) of SSNET, Mohamed Asif (Mondhu) stated that thousands of customers decided to make the switch as they knew that SSNET would provide the same quality service as DhiraaguTV, at an affordable price point.
He further added that allowing DhiraaguTV customers to switch to SSNET would be given the highest priority when the company begins its services.
SSNET revealed that customers who have made the switch will begin receiving their services at midnight on January 30th.
As such, they had also appealed all customers to keep their joyboxes turned on at this time so that the update being sent by SSNET would be downloaded.
With the change in rebroadcasting regulations, Maldives Broadcasting Commission (Broadcom) had stated that Dhiraagu could not be provided a license to rebroadcast after their existing license expired. Following this, the board of Dhiraagu decided to provide the service through SSNET.
DhiraaguTV service will stop at 00:00 hours on January 30. Dhiraagu has also been sending out an SMS to its DhiraaguTV customers announcing the opening of registration on Saturday. In the SMS sent Saturday, Dhiraagu explained the registration process and the link to register to SSNET.
