Male' City Council Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muiz has stated that buses were brought into Vilimale' without City Council knowledge.

Mayor Muiz took to Twitter on Thursday stating that the buses were brought into Vilimale' without any prior knowledge or permit from City Council.

Mayor Muiz went on to say that the incident has been reported to Police and Local Government Authority (LGA).

Speaking on the issue, MTCC's CEO Adam Azim told 'One' on Thursday that MTCC was unaware they required permit from City Council to bring the buses to Vilimale'.

Azim said that MTCC works around the clock to ensure they provide good services to the public, and that the buses were transported to Vilimale' when the buses were free.

"We have received go ahead from President's Office and Transport Ministry to commence bus service in Vilimale' soon as possible. The residents are waiting for the service to begin as well. Therefore we have transported buses to Vilimale' for the service," Azim said.

When asked if the incident was reported to Police, an officer told 'One' he will refer back after checking. However, Police has not provided an update on the issue as of yet.

'One' was unable to get a comment from LGA as no one answered the inquiry call.

City Council has previously announced that the Council will commence buggy services in Vilimale' next month. However, in a statement released on Wednesday, MTCC said that they are ready to begin RTL bus service in Vilimale'. MTCC stated that the buses in Vilimale' will be environmental friendly EV buses.
