President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that as per the government's pledges, all islands where land reclamation has been pledged would see the completion of those projects within this year.
Speaking during a campaign event in Dhidhoo for the upcoming MDP Presidential Primary, President Solih stated that his government had only about two years and six months to run any developmental projects. He highlighted that regardless of the challenges of the pandemic, they have been able to bring about a development that had not been possible in 10 years.
Noting the projects run by the government in Dhidhoo, the President stated that two of the biggest projects which were land reclamation and the tertiary hospital would also progress forward. He had also stated that there was room to talk about the development of an airport in the island while land reclamation was on the table.
Speaking about the projects currently being run, the President revealed that 25 more housing units will be added to the 75-housing unit project ongoing on the island. He also highlighted the harbor development project, the development of a junior college as well as a modern powerhouse as some of the ongoing projects.
