Maldives Police Service (MPS) is set to hold their annual “Police Research and Innovation Conference” next month.
Speaking during a press conference on Tuesday by Police, Ministry of Home Affairs and Police Board, Home Minister Imran Abdulla noted that this conference will be held from February 18th till 20th, and will continue as an annual conference in the future.
He further added that this conference will be seeking public opinion, and will gather files from law enforcement agencies, institutions, colleges, and non-governmental organizations. These will be discussed in their efforts to improve police operations.
The topics of the conference and research papers include:

- National Security and Counter-Terrorism
- Financial Crime and Anti-money laundering
- Cyber Crime
- Forensics
- Leadership
- Organization Resilience and Officer's Wellbeing
- Innovation and Technology
- Transport and Maritime Security
- Efficiency and Effectiveness
- Road Safety
Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed emphasized the need for academies in enhancing policing. He stated that it will contribute to the institution's improvement.
Furthermore, he stated that because the institution is largely accountable to the public, it is also vital for people to be informed of the outcomes of police activity.
