Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has fined Sh. Feevah Council for mining sand from the island shore.
EPA released a statement on Sunday stating that the Agency had received reports of the Council mining sand from the island shore. EPA's investigations revealed that the Council had mined 25 gunny sacks of sand and 20 gunny sacks of pebble from the shore to develop a children's park in the island.
As such, EPA fined the island council MVR 83,525 to be paid within 30 days.
