Criminal Court has provided the detailed case report to the legal team of former President Abdulla Yameen, detailing the trial proceedings for money laundering and corruption.

The legal team of President Yameen confirmed that they have received the report.

Adam Shameem who is part of the legal team stated that they had received the case report today, which is required in order for them to appeal the verdict at the High Court.

The Criminal Court has found President Yameen guilty of corruption and money laundering charges related to the sale of resort development acquisition and leasing rights to Vaau Atoll Aarah, and sentenced him to 11 years in jail with a fine of USD 5 million on December 25th, 2022.

The defense will get a 60-day period to appeal the case at the High Court.
