Velana International Airport has recorded a new daily high for air traffic movements last Saturday.

This marks the highest record of air traffic movements on a single day in the history of the airport. Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) revealed that on January 7th, 856 air traffic movements were completed, including 605 seaplane and 251 wheelbase movements.

These included 102 international flights, 114 Domestic Flights, 35 General Aviation Flights, and 605 Seaplane flights.

It is currently the peak season of tourism in the Maldives. According to the latest statistics by the Ministry of Tourism, 42,404 tourist arrivals had been recorded by January 8th.
