Maldives Police Service (MPS) has revealed that they are seeking foreign expertise in their investigation into the recent incidences of fire in the capital city and the atolls.
In a tweet on Monday morning, the CP confirmed that they have launched an investigation into the recent incidences of fire, and had called for public support in the investigation.
Police Media had further revealed to One Online that they are seeking foreign expertise in their investigation, though no further details were shared.
The investigation comes right on the heels of a massive fire that burnt down a large portion of Neelan Fihaara, the second-hand market in Male' City on Monday morning. A fire also burnt parts of a building in Fiyoari School in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll on Sunday as well.
The month of December had also seen a fire break out at an accommodation block in Gulhifalhu, as well as a kitchen fire in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll Gaddhoo which saw a senior citizen succumb to injuries while being treated at the hospital.
