Parliamentary hopeful for the Thulhaadhoo constituency on an MDP ticket, Hisaan Hussain speaks up regarding allegations put out against her. She said that she has never done anything in her life that causes harm or sadness to others and urges Maldives Police Service to look into these allegations.

Hisaan has said this in response to several claims against her made by Thulhaadhoo citizen Anas Ahmed in a statement last night.

The statement addressed to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih claimed that him and four other children were subjected to inhumane treatment by Hisaan while they were staying at her father’s house for studies. Anas claimed that Hisaan had cut off water and electricity to their rooms of residence at the house and added that she even threw a stone into the room while they slept. The statement claimed that the children in the room had brought in water from public taps for hygiene and made use of flashlights during the 15 days where water and electricity had been cut off by Hisaan.

Noting that Maldivian Democratic Party strongly advocates for human rights, Anas urged President Solih to retract the party’s endorsement for Hisaan’s candidacy in his statement.

Anas stated that he had also submitted the case to Maldives Police Service.

Hisaan’s campaign has also responded to these claims by Anas in a statement released today and reiterated that she strongly denied these allegations. The statement informed that Hisaan has never harmed anyone in her life. She further urged Police to investigate the matter. While the letter by Anas claimed that the issue had been submitted to Maldives Police, Hisaan’s campaign team claims that no such charges have ever been raised against Hisaan by MPS.

The campaign office further reiterated that Anas is the nephew of the Maumoon Reform Movement (MRM) candidate, opposing Hisaan for the Thulhaadhoo constituency, Ibrahim Afeef. Hisaan’s team further claims that Anas is at the forefront of campaign activities of the MRM candidate and added that these claims are completely false. Parliamentary hopeful Hisaan Hussain’s campaign team further condemned these allegations.
