State Minister of Transport Ministry, Ahmed Riyaz, on Monday tendered his resignation from the cabinet to join Maldives National Party (MNP)'s presidential candidate MP Mohamed Nazim's campaign.

In his resignation letter to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Riyaz stated he is resigning to actively take part in Nazim's presidential election campaign.

Riyaz was appointed as State Minister on a Jumhooree Party slot during the initial coalition agreement. However, Riyaz later left Jumhooree Party to join MNP.
