President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that the Baa Atoll Thulhadhoo Airport Project will be contracted within the next few weeks.

Speaking during a campaign event in Thulhadhoo for his MDP Presidential Primary bid, the President stated that establishing airports within 20 to 30-minute distances from each island was part of his presidential pledges.

As such he highlighted that the Hoarafushi Airport Project has been completed as part of this project, while works on the Muli, Faresmaathodaa, and Magoodhoo Airport projects are ongoing. In addition to this, he stated that the construction of four more airports was discussed during his presidential bid.

As such, he added that the development of an additional airport in Baa Atoll was pledged and that only a few days remain before the completion of the project.

He also assured that the project will be contracted within the next few weeks.

He added that the goal of the government is to reclaim the land for the airport and begin construction by mid-year, rendering it useful by the end of the year.
